This is a well known ombré method that even beginners can perfect easily. Using colours that blend together well (orange/pink, green/blue) are the easiest to work with.
To achieve, apply your nail polish in stripes on cosmetic sponge and dab onto the nail. I would suggest taping your fingers beforehand, to minimize mess.
I did two coats of sponging, and recommend using highly pigmented polishes to avoid a second coat. Once the first is dry, sponging on more re-hydrates the first and the texture becomes messy.
Once finished, cleanup around the nail and apply a glossy top coat.
